  • The plain of Fangshan District in Beijing is taken as an area for case study. The present study tends to undertake quantitative measurement of the spatial pattern for non-agricultural land from two aspects. One is the quantitative description of non-agricultural land patches.Three index(fractal dimension, shape index, and circularity) were used to describe spatial graphics of non-agricultural land patches. It is shown that the values of those indexs are always distributed within a limited range by statistics of frequency. The other is quantitative analysis on the spatial distribution of non-agricultural land by variable clumping method(VCM)supported by GIS.
