Objectives In recent years, the issue of “Anthropocene” has become a prominent topic in the academic community, leading to the emergence of Anthropocene maps. As a novel thematic map, the Anthropocene map is characterized by its rich content, diverse types, and wide range of forms, making it worthy of attention and research.
Methods First, we introduce the concept of the Anthropocene and analyze its connotation and characteristics. Second, we explore the content, representation methods, and presentation methods of some typical maps of the Anthropocene through lists and examples while analyzing their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, we elaborate on the important role of maps in studying the Anthropocene.
Results The Anthropocene map is a reflection of the relationship between humans and the environment. It is highly creative and thought-provoking, but it has limitations and requires further improvement.
Conclusions The maps of the Anthropocene should enhance their information-carrying capacity, map expression, and diverse empathy through technological applications, artistic design, and other aspects.
