An inherited multiresolution voxel-based filtering algorithm,aiming at deriving the digital terrain model in forestry area,is proposed in this paper.In this new method,the laser scanning data are divided into voxels at different resolutions.by comparing the weighted average height with neighbors,vegetations in voxels are rejected and terrain points are retained to be interpolated into a digital terrain model.This algorithm is proven to be practical by applying it on the actual data and comparison with the filtering results of Terrascan.
