Abstract: This paper gives the method of Weight Factor(WF) for variance component estima-tion. According to Weight Factor, some questions, for example, negatiye variance are dis-cussed. And comparing the method of WF with that of Helmert, some valuable ideashave been got. Given examples show the method is simple and feasible.
