Improving Performance in a Churned DHT by Virtual Nodes

  • Churn is the inherent property of P2P networks.Dramatic Churn will cause a long lookup delay time and even partition DHTs.So how to shorten the lookup delay time and improving the lookup success ratio in churned DHT is a hot topic.We propose a virtual node scheme to enhance the mean session time of the network by generating a few virtual nodes in the stable real ones.Simulations show that virtual node scheme can decrease the lookup delay time and provide a reference to select the proper value for two parameters of the scheme in terms of efficiency and cost by PVC framework.
