  • We present the evaluation results for the new very-high-degree earth gravitational model(EGM2008) using 225 GPS/leveling benchmarks in a particular region of China.A statistical comparison has been made with some other global geopotential models,such as EIGEN-5C,EIGEN-4C and EGM96.The evaluation results show that EGM2008 offers some inprovement compared to the performance of previous global geopotential models in this region.The results of baseline evaluation tests indicate that GPS height combined with EGM2008 can be used for low grade height difference measurement and height transfer across obstacle.
