Mean Sea Level Variation Using Historic Satellite Altimeter Data

  • Global and chinese mean sea level (MSL) variations have been analyzed using collinear method based on cycles 9 to 249 of T/P data, cycles 0 to 44 of ERS2 data as well as Geosat/ERM.The inverse barometer corrections were computed with a cycle average. The MSL variations obtained by two kinds of T/P and ERS2 data during 1995 to 1999 were compared. The conclusions were obtained as follows:①global MSL changes are arise with 0.6mm/a, however China sea MSL changes with 4mm;②The first and fourth seasonal changes of global MSL are arise, but the second and third changes decline. Thus the trends of MSL seasonal variations over China sea are contrasted to global sea.
