t-GIS and Dynamic Models for Environment

  • Temporal geographic information system is a kind of computer information system that can display, process and analyze on micro-format the distribution of temporal-spatial information of real world. It includes not only spatial geographic information, but also temporal information, and I can not only analyze the static state geographic information, but also the dynamic gapraphic information. The key to realize quantitative description to time-vary character of geographical information is to build up the relationship space vs time and attribute vs time. Three modelings based on t-GIS for environment dynamic, namely, the mechanism method, the experience method and the mixed method are given. t-GIS based on environment dynamic model has many new functions that traditional GIS has not, such as fast I/O, inquiry, static/dynamic state display and visible analysis to spatial and temporal sequence information. Especially it can display the image of environment evolution for the past, current and future through the extrapolation method within its defining region. The velocity for analogue display can speed up by seting up time- vary- area- function for position and at- tribute. For those GIS softwares that possess second-development function, it can remark directly as dynamic environmental information analysis system. Dynamic environmental information analysis systems based on t-GIS are applicable for almost all the application field related to management, display and analysis to environmental dynamic information of region. For this reason some considers to construct distinct information systems were enumerated in the paper, such as, the analysis information system for terrain evolution, analysis information system for condition of water and fertilizer of farmland, analysis and evaluate information system for ecological environment, and analysis information system for population distribution changes of our country, etc.
