Mathematical Definition on the Visual Variables of the Cartographic Symbols
Cartographic symbols are composed of different basic picture elements.According to the definitions in the topology and theory of set,the mathematical definitions of eight of visual varibles,which are form,size,direction,density,lightness,construction colour and place,are given in this paper.
