The Design and Realization of Map Digitization System on Micro-computer Based Map Graphic Workstation

main purpose to develop a map graphic work station on widely used micro-com-puter is that by it the whole process of map data from capturing, managing,editing,updating to graphic outputing can be realized. Map Digitization Systen (MDS)is the software system to deal with the intial and also the most important process. In this paper, the authors intro-duce a MDS on a micro-computer based graphic workstation that has be qualitified for the production of digital maps. Because the system is designed totally independently and in the general frame of the map graphic workstaion,the capturing and managing and other process of map data is in integral manner,in which the production of digital map can be fulfilled conveniently. At the same time,the system is flexible for function extension and widely suit-able for the data from different digitization device and with different information character-istics(e. g.,the process of chinese character on the map).
