  • On view of the practical need for the maps in the oil and geological exploration inthe Chaidam Basin, Lambert projection is proposed in this paper to replace Gauss projec-tion. By using Lambert projection, we need only one coordinate system instead of thethree formerly used separate coordinate systems in Gauss projection. Therefore it isadvantageous to the general planning of the oil and geological exploration.
