The Automatic Establishment of Structured River Network in Cartographic Database

In this paper, the author proposes a kind of link-based structured river network, and discusses the method of its automatic establishment, including the automatic creation of two structure indices, i.e., threaded tree structure index (TSI) and hierachical structure index (HSI). Finally, based on the structured river network which contains these two indices, several retrieval functions are provided as a way to extract structural information during the structure processing in a cartographic database.
