  • In 1920, Majorana concluded that there was an effect of gravitational absorption when a body was put in a gravity field. Since then, some scientists (Tomaschek, 1955; Tomaschek and Groten, 1963; Caputo, 1962; Harrison, 1963; Slichter, 1965; et al.) had been working on this problem and trying to detect the associated gravitational signal, but failed. A possible cause for the fail is that the effect of gravitational absorption is much less than the theoretical estimate. This paper shows that it is possible to detect the signal of gravitational absorption if the gravitational absorption coefficient is not less than 5×10-16cm2g-1. The discussions are focused on the following aspects:1) how to detect the gravitational absorption by the help of the earth as a shield; 2) by the help of the moon; 3) by the help of the sun; 4) by the help of artificial satellites.
