A Study of the Method for Measuring the Information Content of Map

This paper introduces the method for measuring the information content of a map.Information of a map can be divided into direct information and indirect information.Direct information comes form ready-made character and figure,it includes position,letter,semantic and colour information.Indirect information is not from symbol itself but from analysis indirectly.Using the principle of information theory,author studies the method for measuring these information on the map.
