The Construction Method of Determining the Positions of the Principal Planes of Lens

The positions of the principal planes of a single lens are generally calculated according to the formula derived from the fact that the amplification of the vertical axis of the principal planes is +1. Based on the fact that the nodal points of a lens and a parallel plate have the same effect on light, this paper determines the positions of the principal planes of the lens by the combination of construction and computation in accordance with formula for the position of the plane-refracted image.
