at　presentthere 　are 　a　lot 　of 　problems　with　model　simplification 　al gorithms　when　rendering3dgeometric 　and　terrain　models　testing　the 　relationshi p　between　quality　and　the　dis pla y　effect．in 　order 　to　maintain　visual 　characteristics　of 　the　modela　reasonable 　implementation　model　for 　simplifica tion 　is 　put 　forward．this　model　simplification 　al gorithm　solves 　the 　reflection　of 　the　lod　simplifiedmodel　by　introducing　a　vertex　curvature 　characteristic 　factorlimitin g　narrow　trian gle 　formation 　andsi gning　trian gles　whose　color 　changed　quite 　differentl y．experimental 　results 　show　thatthe 　al gorithmis 　efficient　when　guaranteeing　the　visual 　features 　of 　the 　simplified　modelandcan　be　used 　to 　the 　terrainrendering　of 　3dscene．
