Research on the Algorithm of Extracting Ridge and Valley Lines Using Contour Data

In this paper, the author put forwards an brief and practical arithmetic for auto extracting terrain lines from digital terrain data based on the analyzing and comparing of current arithmetic that auto extracting terrain lines from digital terrain data. At the end of this paper, the author gives an experiment result that shows that the ridge and valley extracted by the author's arithmetic is concord to the experimental terrain.
