This paper proposes the conception of metric space, demonstrates the metric space of earth spatial information and discusses some important foundamental technical issues under certain metric space of earth spatial information. The significance of sphere model and the limitation of O-QTM partition is discussed, and the significance of ellipsoid model in global-GIS is pointed out.
