Gravity(Crust) Isostasy and Topographic Wavelength——On Isostatic Isn't Suitable for Gravity Estimation on Qumolangma Peak

  • With the great development of gravity isostatic theory relating to recent 150-year period, the isostatic anomalies and geoidal undulation have been widely used in geodesy, geophysics and geodynamics. All kinds of isostatic theories are discussed. In addition, the effect of different wavelength topography on gravity is researched in detail. Results indicate that it is unsuitable to interpolate gravity value concerning local field by isostatic methods in a mountainous area. However, using terrain data to estimate the gravity value on the peak of Everest is reasonable.
