Monitoring Damage of State Grid Transmission Tower in Bad Weather by High-Resolution SAR Satellites

  • The target scattering characteristics of transmission towers in high resolution SAR images were studied. The experiment of tower cross-arm artificial icing was processed to analyze the target scattering characteristics of icing tower. Feature points based matching methods was proposed to identify the tower deformation. A Harris algorithm was adopted to detect the feature points in pre-processed target images. The detected feature points of same target in multi temporal images are matched based on their distribution to assess the deformation of tower. The experimental results of tower icing and deformation experiments show that the scattering characteristics of transmission tower cross-arm are still strong to be detected in SAR images after icing.
