A new cloud index is proposed for cloud detection based on data analysis of FY-2C.Threshold is set according to the histogram.Experimental results show that the cloud index could be applied to perform cloud detection with a high accuracy for those meteorological satellite data with few bands and coarse spatial resolutions.
