Abstract: This paper aims at point symbol sharing among different GIS platforms.First,three classic GIS point symobl models were compared.The reasons that symbols difficult to share were analyzed.Second,a symbol model named 'PB' was introduced to propose a symbol sharing mechanism,which is the combination of data and rendering sharing in symbols.Final,mapping methods between three GIS point symbols and PB symbol were designed and experiments validate their feasibility.
