Abstract: This paper introduces the MMS technology and its application to the field of spatial information.An MMS database network gateway is designed to implement the connection of MMS and urban spatial database and the GIS application server.The authors design a map server which implements the normal GIS functions.This paper also introduces the programming method of MMS.When users send the MMS messages which have some regular forms given by the ISPs,the component of analyzing command will convert the messages to some SQL sentences and send them to the map server at the server side.This paper describes and analyses the scheme of this system.An example is given.Lastly,this paper points out the advantages and disadvantages of implementation of spatial information services by MMS.
