Abstract:
A monitoring scheme must be so designed that several possible deformation models can be efficiently separated in the stage of analysis of deformation measurements. Based on the concept of separability developed by Chen and Chrzanowski,a mothodology for the de-sign of monitoring schemes using the criterion of seperability has been developed by the au-thors. In the method, a computer simulation technique is employed, into which some rules have been elabrated allowing minimal human intevention. In this paper the criterion is first presented and the design technique using the step-one updating procedure is discussed. Final-ly,design of a simulated monitoring network is made as a demonstrating example.
