Abstract: The mathematical foundations of the geographic information data base are essentialto the centrally and separately established geographic information data base and its use.They are also the premise for building large or medium geographic information systems.This paper gives some of requirements for the mathematical basis and relevant transfor-mation methods of inputting data base, and offers practical plans for building large, me-dium and small data bases and the methods involved which are unified and connectedwith one another.
