Abstract: By comparing Hotine integration with Stokes integration, the paper points out somespecial properties of Hotine integration. The results indicate that Hotine iategration isbetter than Stokes integration in the determination of geoid. A new effective recurrence relation of truncation coefficients and a close formulationfor estimating truncation errois have been put forward.
