Basic Characteristics of Neotectonics and Quaternary in Wuhan Area and the New Trends of Research in the Field

  • 摘要: 开展武汉地区第四纪与新构造运动的研究对于武汉的城市建设关系非常密切。本文对武汉地区第四纪与新构造的基本特征作了概括的论述。主要内容是:武汉地区青山沉积层的形成和构造及其地质特征,它不是河流沉积而是风成沉积;概述了武汉地区下更新世到现代地层的主要特征;研究了武汉地区第四纪断层及断层带的活动,初步分析了武汉地区地壳稳定性及新构造运动,探完了武汉地区地震地质背景与地震活动,历史上武汉地区没有发生过破坏性地震,但是必须注意目前地震发展趋势和邻区地震对武汉的威胁性。文章不但概述了武汉地区第四纪与新构造运动研究的现状,而且还涉及到今后在这方面的研究新趋向。

     

    Abstract: The research on the Neotectonic movement and Quaternary in Wuhan area is very closely connected with the civic construction of Wuhan.The paper outlines the basic characteristics of Neotectonics and quaternary in the area.The content of the paper is as follows:The reserch on the formation of sediments,tectonics and geological characteristics of the Qingshanstratigraphy in Wuhan area shows that it is not a fluvial deposits,but an aeolian deposits;the paper outlines the main features from lower pleistocene stratum up to the present stratum in Wuhan area;the activity of fault zones and Quaternary faults in the area are investigated the stablity of the earth's crust and the Neotectonic movements in the area are analysed.Researchs on the background of seismo-geology and seismicity in the area are also carried out.Though it has been virtually free of devastating earthquakes in historic times in the area,we must pay special attention to recent seismic tendency and the risk caused by the earthquakes in adjacent territories.The paper not only outlines the present status of studies on Neotectonic movement and Quaternary in Wuhan area but also research the new trends in the field.
