Abstract:
This paper presents a new method for identifying the radial pattern in vector road networks. The method first identifies the fuzzy center using hot spot analysis based on the spatial autocorrelation of the road polygon's size. Then, the roads representing the candidate rays are extracted following the law of good continuation. Next, the candidate pattern is simplified by fuzzy center collapse and linearization of the candidate rays. Finally, the simplified candidate is evaluated considering the number, the distribution and the length difference of rays. Experimental testing on Chengdu road network data showes that the proposed method is valid in extracting the radial pattern.
