Abstract: The detailed direction relations are proposed to describe the directions related to the interior of spatial objects, such as “east part of a polygon”, “east boundary of a polygon”, etc. Then this paper, integrates the detailed directions with exterior direction relations and topological relations and defines several NLSRs. Finally, based on the NLSRs, a natural spatial query language (NSQL) is formed to retrieve spatial data from spatial databases.
