Abstract: The cartographic design criterias of schematic road network map are analyzed and summarized,a set of quantitive constrains are set up,and a new road network generalization method including progressive selection and displacement is proposed.And topological checking method for road network are studied.Based on these constrains,the points in a road network are classified,and a satisfied and effective schematic map is designed in a concrete experiment,while keeping the topological consistency of the road network between original and schematic map.
