Abstract:
A newtonian non-linear iterative algorithm that simultaneously retrieves atmospheric parameters and surface skin temperature is presented in this paper. The retrieval algorithm uses infrared radiances measured by Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) in Bo Sea region. The algorithm was applied to real MODIS observations and shows that it is capable of retrieving medium-scale atmospheric temperature with accuracy of 1.5 K,water vapor with accuracy of 19%.Retrieving sea surface temperature, total precipitable water vapor(TPW),and total totals index(TTI) with retrieval accuracy is similar to that achieved by the American National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) MOD07 products.
