Abstract:
The recognition of landslide structure and deformation behavior and the change with time are crucial in landslide hazard monitoring. Seismological methods have unique advantages in obtaining the internal structure of the Earth and the fault rupture and deformation. Passive seismic methods do not need artificial sources, and the field work is flexible. Passive seismic methods are safe, economical and effective to monitor landslide. Passive seismic methods have been used to obtain velocity structure, thickness and brittle deformation characteristics of the Xishancun landslide in Lixian County, Sichuan Province. This paper briefly describes the basic theory of these seismological methods and the progress in the study of the Xishancun landslide.
