嫦娥五号月壤样品光片中颗粒分类方法研究

Study on Classification of Particles in Polished Sections of Chang'e-5 Lunar Soil Samples

  • 摘要: 为了方便对嫦娥五号月壤样品的岩相学和矿物学特征进行分析,部分粉末和岩屑颗粒被制作成了光片样品。利用扫描电镜获取光片的背散射电子图, 从这些背散射电子图可观察到,部分颗粒由单一的矿物组成,部分颗粒由多种矿物组成。由于单个粉末光片中颗粒数量为 104 量级,无法使用人工的手段对其中颗粒进行分类。因此, 本文基于分水岭分割算法开发了一种月壤颗粒分类方法,根据矿物组成将这些月壤颗粒分为三类:单矿物颗粒、双矿物颗粒、多矿物颗粒,统计并分析了光片背散射电子图中面积>25μ m2 月壤颗粒的尺寸及种类。结果表明, 矿物种类越多颗粒的平均尺寸越小, 这可能是由于不同种类颗粒在太空风化过程中破碎的速度不同而造成的;此外,这些颗粒长短径比值在三种矿物之间没有明显差异,表明颗粒的形态与矿物种类没有明显的关系。

     

    Abstract: Objectives: Observing the backscattered electron images of lunar soil polished sections, some lunar soil particles are composed of a single mineral, and some particles are composed of multiple minerals. Since the number of particles in one lunar soil polished section is on the order of 105, we developed a computer-based classification method of lunar soil particles. Methods: We determine the approximate range of different minerals in the particle by grayscale statistics, and then use the watershed algorithm to segment the minerals in the particle. Finally, these lunar soil particles are divided into three categories: single mineral particles, dual minerals particles, three and above minerals particles. Results: After counting all lunar soil particles with an area >25 μm2 in the three polished sections, the statistical results showed that the percentages of number for a single mineral, dual minerals, and three or more minerals are 15.3%, 19.2%, and 65.5%, and the percentages of mass are 59.1%, 31.1%, and 9.7%. The average diameters of three kinds of particles are 31.29μ m,19.09μ m,9.27μ m. Conclusions: This difference in size of three types of particles might be related to the particles composed of various minerals separating easily during space weathering.
