Topographic Automatic Recognition Based on Optimal Topography Feature Space—Taking Southwest China as an Example

  • Based on ASDEM data,we propose a method of correlation matrix and Sheffield entropy,and get the optimal topography feature space which contains the slope,surface cutting depth,accumulation curvature,elevation and surface roughness.We get the distribution map of 11 kinds of geomorphic types in southwest China by using the method of optimal topography feature space analysis.The results show that the areas of plain with low-elevation basins,hills,mid-elevation mountains and subalpine are greater,the proportion of the sum area of these 4 types reaches 56.11% of the total area,the proportions of other types fluctuate between 4.08%-8.30%,and the topography is more broken.The results have been proved to be credible both macroscopically and microscopically,which have certain value for the further research.
