Spatial Reasoning Based on Rule-based Knowledge

  • Spatial reasoning,as an effective tool for GIS spatial analysis, has been attracting hot focuses from researches. The general method on spatial reasoning only takes spatial relations contained in spatial data into account, but this is not complete. Some requirements, which are also called general knowledge, can be regarded as a kind of special knowledge that should be met in spatial reasoning. In this paper, the method,or spatial reasoning of rule-based knowledge, for integrating spatial relations and general knowledge is discussed. This method inherits and extends the current spatial reasoning method to include a complete knowledge disposal system.Rule-based knowledge representation and object-oriented knowledge representation methods are used to express spatial and general knowledge.Knowledge and models for spatial reasoning are integrated together to complete spatial reasoning.Lastly,an case study on selecting monitor points for a hierarchy administrative region is detailed.
