Establishment of Absolute Gravity Datum in Great Wall Station,West Antarctica

    Abstract
  • During the 2004-2005 austral summer season,the 21st Chinese National Antarctica Research Expedition(CHINARE) carried out the absolute gravity measurement using FG5 absolute gravimeter at Great Wall Station,West Antarctica,the precision is within ±3 ×10-8 ms-2,at the same time,the vertical and horizontal gradient of gravity were measured.The relative gravity measurements were carried out using LaCoaste & Romberg(LCR) superconducting gravimeters at 7 sites in the Great Wall station area,the precision is within ±10 ×10-8 ms-2,and the scale factor was precisely determined.
