Analysis of Vertical Deformation in Shaanxi Area, China

  •   Objectives  The vertical movement is obtained and analyzed with the different geodetic data of more than 40 years in Shaanxi area, China.
Methods  Firstly, the adjustment result of the national first order level network in three periods is collected, the trend of 40 years is applied to describe the vertical movement as a whole which can show the uplift and downward of the crust, the data of the second order level network on the basis of the first order level points is adjusted, and the information with the higher resolution is obtained. Secondly, the other vertical information is collected from the result which includes global navigation satellite system (GNSS) network, crustal movement observation network of China and interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) result of the geography condition monitoring in Shaanxi area. Finally, the fusion result is computed with move fitting method.
Results  Experimental result shows that the vertical movement of GNSS is consistent with the vertical movement of level on the whole. The uplift rate on the whole is about 4 mm/a in the north of Shaanxi area the maximum downward rate is 6 mm/a in Guanzhong plain, the uplift rate is about 3 mm/a in the south of Shaanxi area, and there is severe subsidence in the north of Shaanxi area and local area of Xi'an.
Conclusions  From 1970 to 2018, a downward trend of vertical movement was shown in Guanzhong plain, and the uplift trend of vertical movement was displayed in mountains and plateaus around Guanzhong plain.
