Evaluation of World Magnetic Model Accuracy

  • In geomagnetic field model and geomagnetic navigation research, methods for evaluating the precision of geomagnetic field model are required. The World Magnetic Model (WMM) and INTERMAGNET observation data were used to evaluate the precision of WMM2010 model globally, and the accuracies for different areas such as Europe, North America and China were analyzed,. Based on this analysis, we propose a gridding method to evaluate the geomagnetic field model according to the relationship between truncated degree of the geomagnetic field model and wavelength of spatial resolution, Our WMM model precision results at the global scale and for local areas are detailed.
