A Building Method of Statistical Cartographic Symbols by Using the Space Layout

  • Statistical cartographic symbol is used to express statistical data, which is the important bridge for data exploration and transfer between designer and user. By means of the thorough analysis on space layout, elements and classification of statistical cartographic symbol, puts forward a kind of building method of statistical cartographic symbols by using the space layout. Describes in detail the formalization description and organization of statistical cartographic symbol under the constraints of space layout, then designs the basic building flow. Afterwards, constructs visual variables, graphic element and statistical cartographic symbols in turn. Experimental results show that this method can break through the traditional limits of data dependency and building complexity, rich the kinds of statistical cartographic symbols, and has certain actual application value.
